Objectives

 

The main objective of this project is to improve trans-boundary wastewater management between different groups (men, women, boys and girls) and the staff of the targeted municipality. The specific objectives are as follows:

    1. Organizing and conducting community awareness programs to promote household connection to municipal wastewater networks, improve hygiene behavior, build consensus on the proposed tariff, and improve cost recovery of wastewater collection and treatment.

    2. Strengthening the management and operational capacities of the targeted municipality through structured training, on-job training, and coaching.

    3. Revise the tariff structure for water and wastewater to include the full cost of wastewater collection, operation and maintenance, and treatment services.

HWE works closely with Newcastle University (UK) and many other international institutions and funding agencies such as UNESCO, ESCWA, CEDARE, UNU, USAID, DFID, AFD, GTZ, GWP, EUWI, JICA, ACSAD, BGR, EU, etc.

Main Goals

HWE offers a wide variety of services in water, sanitation and environmental engineering and science from the needs identification stage to the elaboration of tender documents, supervision of works and technical assistance.
