Objectives

 

The main objective of the GIZ program with regards to Human Capacity Development (HDC) is to support the Palestinian Water Sector to build its Human Capacity and Capabilities in line with the Palestinian national strategy of the PWA.

The Specific objectives of this capacity building project are as follows:

    • To raise the capabilities of the water service staff among the employees who work in the development of the Palestinian Water Sector in organizations such as PWA.

    • To facilitate the implementation of the wastewater training packages.

    • To provide a clear description of the approach and tasks needed to implement this training package.

 

Project Outputs

 

Four Wastewater Training Packages (theorotical and practical) were implemented as follows:

Package No 1.: Implementation of the wastewater house connections bylaw and industrial wastewater management

Package No 2.: Wastewater and treated sludge reuse in Agriculture; management and safety measures

Package No 3: O&M of wastewater collection Networks (West bank and Gaza).

Package No 4: Work Health and Saftey measures (West Bank and Gaza)

 

 


 

 

Areas of work

HWE works closely with Newcastle University (UK) and many other international institutions and funding agencies such as UNESCO, ESCWA, CEDARE, UNU, USAID, DFID, AFD, GTZ, GWP, EUWI, JICA, ACSAD, BGR, EU, etc.

Main Goals

HWE offers a wide variety of services in water, sanitation and environmental engineering and science from the needs identification stage to the elaboration of tender documents, supervision of works and technical assistance.
